Vidin Plaza Retail Park officially opened on May 8, 2024, introducing the first retail park in the city of Vidin. Located on Panonia Boulevard, the development covers a total area of 46,950 sq m, including 16,080 sq m of retail and storage space.
Designed by IPA - Architecture and more, the project transforms part of an existing industrial complex into a contemporary commercial environment. The retail park combines commercial units with landscaped outdoor areas, pedestrian circulation and parking for 500 vehicles. At the time of opening, more than ten national and international brands operated within the complex, creating a new concentration of retail and services for Vidin and the wider Northwestern Bulgaria region.
The redevelopment also demonstrates how architectural design can adapt existing building stock to a new program while retaining elements of the previous industrial infrastructure. The project was developed with a focus on accessibility, clear circulation and the relationship between the retail units, parking areas and surrounding urban environment.
Dunonia AD is the investor behind Vidin Plaza. The opening of the complex created more than 80 new jobs, adding new commercial and employment opportunities to the local economy.
Later in 2024, Vidin Plaza received the Building of the Year Award for Retail Park in the Commercial Buildings and Retail Parks category, adding further recognition to the completed project. The distinction is included among IPA's Building of the Year 2024 awards.
