The long-awaited moment has arrived – reconstruction of the Bulgarian Army stadium is officially underway.
CSKA Sofia FC has selected Glavbolgarstroy Holding to carry out the structural work for this ambitious project. Today, Sports Properties Bulgarian Army signed the contract, marking a significant step forward. The construction phase is set to last 12 months, during which the core structural elements of the new sports facility will be completed and installed. The entire stadium, along with complete renovation of the surrounding park area, is expected to be finished in approximately 18 months.
Designed by IPA - Architecture and more, the project aims to create a stadium that meets all contemporary standards for sports facilities. With a focus on sustainability and the preservation of the surrounding park environment, the design aligns with best practices in modern construction. The project includes the use of pre-fabricated structural elements that will be manufactured off-site, a modern approach that ensures the new stadium is built to the highest standards of quality and safety.
A key focus in the reconstruction is for the Bulgarian Army stadium to meet requirements set by UEFA. One of the project's objectives is to rebuild the stadium as a UEFA Class IV venue with a view to hosting major matches, including UEFA Champions League group stage.
Reconstruction of the Bulgarian Army stadium represents both a challenge and an inspiring journey toward a significant goal: to create Bulgaria’s first modern, high-tech stadium that meets international standards and reflects the deep passion of CSKA fans. This project is more than just a reconstruction, it is a bold commitment to establishing a worthy home for the club and its loyal supporters.
